Aydin first holiday trip

I should say...traveling with a toddler is really a test of your physical and mental fitness. Physical as in to be able to withstand at least 10kg weight on one arm for hours and at least another 5 on the other (shopping bags) and in my case at least an extra 5kg on my shoulder ( my camera gear)...not a good idea. Mentally..is to be able to withstand their need to play, to walk around, to be entertain, to be fed, to be clean and probably the most difficult of all to guess what they want and need at a particular point of time.

A colleague of mine..a mother to three once said to me traveling with her kids is not relaxing at all. I dont understand that ..what more could she ask for being off work, overseas in a nice hotel with nice pools and shopping centres with her loved ones..but now i think I will have to agree with her.. However despite all this..we had so much fun. For me the last time i probably took care of him completely was when Widdy was still out from the operation the first two weeks he was born. Since then we always had help either from grandparents or our maid or now maids.

We had such a tight schedule and it all involved hours of moving about around Singapore either by foot, strollers or taxis. Proud to say we did it all...we went to all the places we wanted to go, eat and see. We did all our shoppings...we went to the zoo...we went to Sentosa to see the fish and eat at all of our favourite places. In most cases we have to improvise to suit to his needs..i.e. invest on a new strollers that can recline completely so he can sleep comfortably while we shop...rush to starbucks whenever he fell asleep...strictly start the day at 9 and end at 6pm..early dinner..pit stops at playground and toys r us..and for mommy invest on some cool looking breastfeeding outfits to be able to instantly feed him on demand anytime anywhere.

The only one thing that probably we need to work on is our patience or my patience to his sometime challenging demands. Its not about satisfying it...but its about figuring out what they need or want in the first place. This can be mighty difficult especially now he knows to say No or rigorously shake his head if he dont want something. Similarly he sticks his finger in his throat and throws up when he doest get his way...hmm.

All in all..Alhamdulilah he has been such a good boy. He eats and sleep well..and we are glad to be safe back at home. For us i think we bought all the things we want to buy and at i think we both did too well in this department. A friend of mine said to me that see it as a gift to yourself for being a good parent hahahha..
