Aydin First tooth?

Aydin seemed to be going through another major milestone in his development..cutting his first tooth. I am finding this hard to believe as most books and articles that i have read indicated that babies will only start cutting teeth at age of 6 months plus. I am not quite convinced as i cant really see much except for some white spots around his teeth area.

Mommy told me thats this is the beginning and in few weeks time we might be able to see a pearl white thing poking out of his mouth..haha! This probably explains why he was sick last week and all the finger sucking, crying at night phenomenon. Whatever it is...i will keep my camera handy and try to capture every single development of that small pearl white thing! Until i see semething concrete and clear..those white spots are just white spots to me : )

Cheers

Flipping Aydin

Dam da da dum..Aydin is 4 months old this week. He now is looking more like his mommy but he still got the daddy`s nose! He suprised us last week with his flip stunt...he can now turn on his tummy by himself without any pushing from Daddy...well done and congrats baby!

June seems like a buzy month for Aydin, Mommy and Daddy. First week is moving to the flat...second week is Aydin and Dalila Zikir function...third week Nenek Lumut back from Umrah and fourth week Azlan`s wedding. Nenek Lumut already bought him some baju melayu and a matching sinjang for the function..i think he will be wearing a cream colour baju melayu and a golden colour sinjang...cute!

Happy..

Koolfever

Koolfever - A plaster jelly like thing suppose to cool down baby`s temperature. Mommy bought it in Supasave last week after hearing good reviews from friends and colleagues.

Aydin temperature slightly went up again this afternoon and hence the patchy thing on his head. This thing works like magic as his forehead really feel "cooler" and temp went down back to normal after 20 mins. Hope he will be ok tomorrow..

Sneezy Week

Last week Nenek Lumut brought Aydin to Panaga clinic to have some medical check up over his runny nose, and coughing episodes. It seemed that he got a minor flu. We are not sure where he catch it from but we suspect it might be from his last trip to the clinic two weeks ago. Poor baby..he has been coughing quite badly till sometime tears came out of his eyes. He cant take any medicines yet and thus relying very much on mommy`s antibodies to get rid of his flu. Alhamdulilah..he is getting better now but the flu seemed to got us...and impacting mommy more as she cant take any medications as it will have some impact on Aydin`s food supply.

We both are feeling a bit blur and really cant imagine how Aydin must be coping with all this last week. Guess we will have to bit more cautious on where to bring him next time. On his developments..he is getting more playful and sensitive in a way. Playful as such he smiled a lot and wriggles vigorously when you "taunt" him and will make some "bibi" faces if you imitate a crying sound or any high pitch noises.

Mommy and Daddy are quite excited about the move. I will finally have my dream home theatre set and thus have been looking around for the clearest screen and the most comfortable sofa set. The way we see it its an investment as we will need to buy all these eventually when we move in to our new house insyallah next year. We had a guilt-less shopping bonanza at Giant courtesy of my dad who won a Lucky draw B$5000 voucher from Giant on his birthday last Sunday. We got quite a chunk of it and explained the 7 trolleys of stuff from Giant last weekend hehehe.

Daddy, Mommy....New games please!

Aydin now is becoming more aware of his environment and we are finding it more challenging to keep up with his demand for entertainment. He is reacting more to all sort of games, toys and activities. He smiled back now when you smile at him, wriggles vigourously when he is excited and talks back if you talk to him. On top of this, his attention span varies from 5 to 20 mins making it quite a challenge to keep him happy. So far we bought him 3 diff types of mobiles ( some sponsored by neneks and frens), 1 musical chair and tons of dangling, tingling, singing touchy feely toys. We know that play is an important aspect of his mental and physical development and will try our best to keep him happy..no matter how much we have to sing, dance, smile and err burp?

To add to our exhausting ideas of games and activities, Daddy surfed for ideas and found some new games that will at least keep him happy for the next week or two. Mommy..if you reading this..pls take note hehe

4 to 6 months

At this age, your baby will become a lot more physical, learning how to roll over and even sit up. She can now hold, handle, and mouth objects, and she'll spend a good part of her busy days doing so (meaning extra vigilance is needed on your part).

Games can get more physical now. Your baby might enjoy knee rides or tickle games. She's also more responsive to you, making noises and meeting your eyes.

Smell the Spice Rack
You're in the kitchen, trying to throw some kind of dinner together when your baby starts wailing. Take her over to the spice rack and introduce her to the intoxicating scent of cinnamon. Rub some on your hand and put it up to your baby's nose. (Don't let it get in her eyes or mouth.)

If she likes it, try others: Vanilla, peppermint, cumin, cloves, nutmeg, and many other herbs and spices have intriguing fragrances that your baby might love. Other household goods are fragrant, too: Dad's shaving lotion, Mom's hand cream. Sniff out everything yummy — just be careful not to let your baby eat it!

Bubbles, Bubbles Everywhere
There's something magical about bubbles, and at this point your baby can see far enough away to focus on them. Blow bubbles when she's getting fussy waiting for the bus and watch the tears dry up. Blow bubbles in the park to attract older kids who'll caper nearby and entertain your baby in the process. Blow bubbles in the bathtub or out on the porch when it's late afternoon and your baby is cranky. Bubbles are unbelievably cheap, easily transportable, and endlessly fascinating for babies.

I'm Gonna Get You!
Your baby is old enough to have a sense of anticipation now. And no baby can resist your coming at her mock-menacingly with a threat of hugs, kisses, or tickles. Here's what you could say: "Hey, Andrea! I see you over there sitting up! Well, that just makes you closer to my lips and I'm going to come over there and kiss you! I'm going to steal a kiss, baby! I'm coming! I'm coming! I...gotcha!" Then cover your baby in smooches.

In our house we threaten to eat the baby and punctuate our advances with lip chomps on her fat little feet. A delicacy! When your baby's older you can modify this game to include a chase around the house — this works wonderfully as a way to get your child out the door when you're in a rush.

This Little Piggy
Touch your baby's toes in turn, starting with the big toe. Say, "This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none. And this little piggy went wee-wee-wee all the way home."

As you say that last part, run your fingers up your baby's belly. This game is useful for putting on socks and shoes or distracting your baby during diaper changes. You can also play this game in the bathtub with a squirt bottle targeting your baby's toes.

Tummy Time
By now, your doctor's probably nagging you to get your baby on her tummy, and your baby may be protesting vociferously.

Get down on the floor with your baby. Look her in the eye as you lie on your own belly. Lay your baby down on a towel and use it to gently roll her from side to side. Try saying, "Oops-a-daisy, Oops-a-daisy" as you roll her.

Fly, Baby, Fly!
Now that your baby can hold her head up, it's time to hoist her into the air. You can play that she's a rocket ship, flying her over you and making realistic rocket noises (dads are great at this). You can play that your baby is in an elevator, which advances up floor by floor before sinking quickly to the bottom (my husband likes to bump noses with our baby and say "Ding!" at this point). Or pretend that your baby's doing a helicopter traffic report.

Daddy Jr

Milestones

Aydin reached another milestone today as he let out his first laughter this afternoon when we came back home for lunch. It was unexpected and it happened so quickly. The trigger was my burp as i was holding him while waiting for mommy to finish her lunch. I screamed with joy and tried burping again and again..but i think he finished his quota for the day...fun fun!

Anyway we decided to move out from Lumut and move to a Shell flat next month. This decision was made mainly to be closer to the baby and to save us time driving back up and down during lunch. Mommy had a long list to buy kitchenwares and all sort of stuff. Daddy is eyeing for the 47 inch full HD TV which will sit nicely on the spacious living room. I think i will finally have a proper room for my toys and gadgets. I will be sharing with Aydin`s tho...and Daddy already has a plan to make it the shelf at least 2 metres tall wahaha!

Aydin: Three months 2 weeks

Our mighty He-Boy is now 3 months 2 weeks old. Daddy has been googling looking for some answers on why he like to watch TV and crying for no reason when we tried to put him to sleep. Thanks to the WWW, we think we found some answers.

At this age, TV for them is just a box with bright fascinating lights and sounds. It will cause them no harm but its best to keep them away from it and encourage more human interactions. The crying might be him trying to fight and protest against to be put down to sleep too early! Aiyahh!. I think the key here is for us not to encourage him...and try our best to stick to his routine.

Btw, found this chart at www.babycenter.com. Thought this might be useful to keep track how Aydin is doing compared to Industry Averages hehehe

Nenek Beribi

The wind is blowing really strong outside as i blog. Aydin for some reason was mighty moody tonight as he kept on crying and screaming. We know that if he is acting up like this something must be wrong...well for him at least. We tried everything..change his diapers... twice, put some Telons on his tummy and check his temperature but nothing seems to soothe this angry boy. I tried the last trick in the book and it works. Brought him on the sofa and sat him down on my lap in-front of the TV and walaaa..kan liat TV rupanya! aiyahh..! At that time..Terminator 2 was on star Movie and we sat there for a while and slowly put him back to bed for milkies! Zzzz..

Sunbathing with Dalila

Aydin got his third injection last week and he took the jab like a man! He gave out the loudest scream and calm down almost immediately once we tried settling him. He was however in a mighty bad mood for the rest of the weekend and keep waking up almost on an hourly basis at night whenever he feels the pain..poor Aydin!

Baby Dalila still have some "Jaundice" left on her which explained the sunbathing. She is currently undergoing a photo therapy at JPMC. Hopefully after this she will be ok..

Hypnotised

Aydin now can really focus, more aware of his environment and fascinated with almost everything around him. We also learned that he now will not like to put down on his back for a long time as his view will only be limited to whatever is on the ceiling. I discovered that today when i was takng care of him during my MC leave this morning.

Mommy bought him this new sosphicated mobile set complete with Mozart music, lights and moving objects. He was so amused by it and he didn`t even blink! hehe. At the rate that he is going now we might have to find a new toy that he can sit on and play at the same time...Bebeland here we come!

Cheers

The Mall experience

Mommy has been complaining on how thick her hair was and finding it really difficult to find time to cut her hair. Daddy kindly offered a solution to bring him in to the mall and let him spent some quality time with daddy at the shopping centre while mommy have some mommy`s grooming time. This is in fact He-Boy`s first time to the mall and Daddy made some plans to make sure his one half hour will be filled with fun activities anything to prevent him unleashing that mighty tantrum at the mall.

The first half of the hour was great...we ate at KFC, we bought some clothes at Osh Kosh and more importantly we bought some diapers and cotton wools. All seemed well until the time when we have to go down the escalator to fetch mommy. I honestly do not remember and never bothered to observed how other parents bring down the stroller down the escalator. Applying the Newtons`s law of gravity i thought that its best that i go down first then him so i did that "backward" method in which i go down the escalator first and pull him in. He was feeling insecure and really don`t like it. He screamed out loud and I decided to use the lift after that..

It also doesn`t help that we brought a wrong teat for his bottle. The milk wont come out no matter how strong he tried to suck it out..ulala!.

Tips of the week:
1) Make sure you understand the procedure and safety of bringing a stroller on an escalator. My advise is dont even bother..its not worth the risk and use the elevator instead.
2) Make sure you got the right teatsfor the bottle even if it seems to fit with the bottle.

Dalila is now two weeks old and looking more like her mommy. She poops a lot and sprayed Aunty Bet with a splat of shytes last weekend hehehe. She is opening her eyes more these days and slowly becoming more vocal whenever she wants something. I cant wait for both of them to grow up and start playing!
